Great Case
User: Tom Allen, Dec 13, 2006
I love this case. I've owned many belt clip cases and had become turned off to them. Most cases eventually broke. The plastic or the springs would break. Cases with separate belt clips would become unattached and fall to the ground. Why buy a case only to have it not work correctly or break? I can’t see how I could break this case. The most important part to me is the belt clip. It is metal, covered in leather, attached to the case by stitching, and seems to be very strong. When attached to a leather belt, it is firmly secured, and does not slide or rotate. However, I am able to remove the case from my belt without a problem. The two magnets securely keep the case closed. The Treo is easy to remove and insert with the screen facing either direction, and allows you to use the phone in its ‘naked’ state. You can leave the Treo in the case and answer calls using a Bluetooth headset easily. The stitching is black (although in many pictures it appears to be white or grey). When the Treo is removed, you can comfortably wear the empty case. It has some give to it and can bend against your body, unlike plastic. It’s the best case I’ve ever owned.

Great Case!
User: Aaron Stone, Oct 10, 2006
Pros: Great Quality, Good construction, Durable Clip
Cons: Although Clip is nice and tight, would like it to have a upwards Lip at the base to guarentee stability
I own about a dozen cases, pouches, ansd holsters, This is by far one of my if not my all time favorite. If you like the Side loading pouches, this one is great! Hugs close to the hip, very secure tight clip. I am in the military and it goes through some rough times but keeps my Treo safe and secure. pretty shart looking to. I though the stitching from the picture was going to be white but was happy it was black. I rate it 5 of 5. A great price for a great case!

extending P6 puch lifespan
User: P Maxwell, Nov 30, 2007
Pros: clip works well, stays in place
Cons: can manage to press buttons and run down battery when worn
I like this pouch. I worked through a few others before finding the P6. I actually bought another one in advance of needing to replace it, as there was a sale and I was buying some other Treonaut stuff...
anyway, after a while, though still quite functional, the pouch starts to show some wear... frayed/worn edges, loss of color at edges, etc. I decided to try to treat the leather with a bit of liq leather dye ( a good military guys shoe shine kit component...). brightened right up, covered the scrapes and scuff marks, looks much nicer and getting extra two months so far.
thought I would share the tip... the leather dye is like $3 bottle, better than the alternate of $20/ pouch.

Nice case, covering doesnt last
User: Ron Cox, Feb 22, 2009
Pros: Closure, shape, security
Cons: Covering material wears, clip ends up exposed metal
Like a couple of others have said, I liked this case, and have now had several of them. Problem is that the covering of the belt clip is definitely not leather (none of it is) and it wears out quickly if you take it on and off daily, as I do.
The case is fine, but could use a little reinforcement in the back, as after a while, it starts to pull away from the clip. Ive only had one clip come off of the several Ive owned but I could see that coming in plenty of time to repair it. Corners wear out, too.
I have bought it several times, because I like the way it works, when new.
Id pay more for a better built one with exactly the same shape and closure. But I cant find one.

Good performance in a short lifetime
User: Martin Higginbotham, Jun 15, 2008
Pros: Easily accessible side flap & secure closing mechanism.
Cons: Didnt wear as well as expected.
As a long time PDA user and first time SmartPhone (700p) user, I wasnt sure if a sideways case was the right choice. Thankfully it was, and this case in particular seemed to work well. Accessibility to the headphone jack, and the phone itself were ideal. The phone remained secure in the case, and the case stayed firmly on my belt for as long as I needed them to.
Unfortunately, after 10 months of daily (but light duty) usage, the clip is rapidly tearing the material holding it onto the case. Obviously, the case will not serve its intended purpose for much longer and will need to be replaced. For reference, I got a used ("freebie") cell phone & case in 2000 which lasted until 2007.
Ill be getting another "Side Case" to replace this one, but Ill also be reading reviews about materials & durability, because I dont consider cases to be disposable.

Strong clip, weak leather
User: Steven Weiner, Apr 15, 2008
Pros: Looks good, belt clip ils very strong
Cons: Belt clip is attached to weak leather backing
I bought this case after reading very positive reviews of it in the Treonauts newsletter. Those reviews focused on such benefits as a very strong belt clip thats large enough to really grip tightly on the belt.
True, as far as it goes. Unfortunately, that wonderful steel clip is glued onto a leather backing for the case - you cant see it in the photo - and that leather backing is thin. It turns out that the leather tears rather easily under stress. So the clip, although strong, has a weak anchor. One day emerging from my car the Treo snagged, as they easily can, on the emergency brake handle, and next thing you know, it ripped right off, just as though the clip was attached to a sheet of paper.
Otherwise, nice pouch.

Works, but not durable
User: Stephen Beitzel, Oct 22, 2007
Pros: inexpensive, works
Cons: not durable
I bought one of these last year when I got my Q. It served me well for many months and I didnt regret buying it. However, after about 10 months of daily use, the leather holding the belt clip tightly to the body of the case started to stretch out. Instead of sitting flush against my belt, the case dangles outward. It catches on things as I am now an inch wider than I used to be. I expect the case, a lower-tech and fundamentally simpler item, to outlive my phone. I patched it with some Barge cement, but that isnt an ideal solution.

Nice design however clip fell off
User: Tim Pasch, Aug 26, 2007
Pros: nice design, low-profile, good magnets.
Cons: Clip fell off. Had to crazy-glue it back on.
The cases design is excellent. I could not believe it when the clip fell off the case, leaving me with a clip on my belt and a phone on the floor. This could easily have resulted in one of those sinking moments when you realize that your phone is gone at the end of the day, never to be seen again. Luckily this happened as I was getting ready for work in the morning.
I bought 2 tubes of superglue and glued that clip on with a vengeance, now it will never fall off again. Still, the manufacturer needs to implement a major reinforcement of the clip mechanism with cordura or kevlar thread so that it becomes physically impossible that it falls off again. Additionally, although one user mentioned that there has been a series of loops implemented to ensure that the phone will not fall off even if the clip breaks, I have no such redundancy on my clip. I want to be sure that if the clip slips off in the future, that I will still have my phone! overall 3 stars for good design with very flawed manufacturing.

Not the best :(
User: Nathan z3power, Mar 11, 2007
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Cheap and does not last too long.
Before getting my Treo, I had Motorola's MPx-200, and the side mount case that I bought from a vendor in a mall, held up better than this and it was the same price, I had that one for almost 3-years. This one, less than 1-year old and it has started showing signs of stress and tearing, far sooner than my old one.
I have since ditched this one to the garbage can and bought one of those holsters from Speck Toughskin.
So if you want a cheap side case, this will do. but if you expect it to last more than a year, get something else.

Damaged in Fall
User: Mike K, Dec 17, 2006
Pros: Cheap, Pouch form is comfortable
Cons: Bad screen protection, Hard to extract 680
I promptly bought this case for my new 680. Yesterday, I went running after my daughter and slipped and fell. Though my body took most of the impact, the case which was on my right side took a light ancillary scrape. The 680 aesthetically was barely scratched, but the screen cracked...right were the case magnet pushed into it. If there had been a decent protective shield or at least a flat piece instead of the bumpy magnets, my Treo would have been unharmed. Instead it's $200 down the tube for screen repair. If you use this case, keep the screen toward your body, not the flap (even though that feels more natural). Also, it's a pain to extract a 680 from this case one-handed. Without the antenna to grab, it requires opening the flap, pushing up from underneath, and reorienting the phone with your thumb to pull it out without dropping it. I'm probably switching to a nutshell for my replacement.

Weak Clip
User: Paul Gibson, Jul 11, 2008
Pros: Like the large capacity for the larger battery for the Treo 680
Cons: Flimsy belt clip
Ive only had the pouch for 2 months and the clip has broken. It wasnt able to hold up to working in the medical field, catching on tables, narrow exam rooms, was constantly popping off to the point that I was afraid I was going to NOT notice one time and lose my Treo. With the many times it caught on things, the weak clip wouldnt stay on my belt. When I tried to tighten and close, the clip broke. Now I have to buy another pouch. Although I really liked the larger pouch for my larger battery, I feel this pouch has a very weak clip that bend easily, and falls off in a busy work schedule, with the potential loss of the Treo. Go with the more expensive brand. I know I will.

Great if you dont want to know youre receiving a call...
User: D Masters, Aug 1, 2007
Pros: Price, protects phone well
Cons: Can be cumbersome, no opening for the speaker, cant hear phone, cant feel phone vibrate
While this case does protect the phone well and the clip seems to usually be secure enough, the case has no cut-outs for the speaker area. My ringer is on high volume yet I never hear the phone ringing, unless Im sitting in silence reading with the phone in my lap or right next to me on the table. Also, the vibration of the phone isnt felt, probably because the case is nicely padded to protect the phone.
If one uses a headset that alerts to incoming calls 100 of the time then this might be terrific but I dont always use my headset.
