Very happy with this item. My computers developed trouble recognizing my Palm Pre Plus as a USB drive using the cable that came with the phone. With this cable, the USB drive recognition now works fine.

Cons: If you do not let it snap back it tangles

After figuring out how to let it snap back to the closed position by holding the end, then a little pull and letting go of the end, I recommend it.

It is a great way to keep your desk uncluttered or as an addition to a USB cable stack. No matter what it will help keep you cables neat and manageable.

Pros: Easily pocketable. Seems to charge faster than Palms stock USB cord.
Cons: Cord could be longer. Spindle can be finnicky retracting cord.

This is a great choice for someone looking for a quick and convenient charging solution for their webOS device. I own two of these retractable cords and they work well. I also owned the Seidio brand (but lost it)... The latter was smoother when retracting but also had a tendency to retract the cable when I DIDNT want it to. Either way, you cant go wrong with either choice.

You can buy the Palm car charger, with the USB connector from Precentral store and buy this and you have your touchstone working in your car, easy and cheap with these items!!

Doesnt Tangle

I love this retractable cord. It reduces my pile of cables, which I have a million, and it doesnt tangle and twist in the core. Ive had other retractabe cords, and they get bent and twisted and they were unusable. I have one of thee for work and one for the car. Really can not beat the resiliency on these.

I bought this for travelling. I dont have a messy cord that comes unravelled. Its great, but occassionally get stuck and doesnt retract. Overall it fits its purpose and I would recommend to buy.

Cons: sometimes slow to retract

Only used this for a week so far, but for the price, these get the job done well. These are not designed to be super sturdy - only for travel and quick use. the spring load mechanism can be slow to retract sometimes, but not a big deal, at least yet.

Apparently I was a bit hasty in posting my initial opinion. I compared the shape of the plug on the Palm cable to that of this cable and they are identical. It took a rather forceful push to get it plugged into the phone the first time, but now it works fine.

It seems to be working fine, but the plastic is thin, the spring loaded operation seems a little flimsy, and Im cautiously optimistic that it will stand the test of time.

Hard to retract

This little guy seems to work well enough. I havent quite gotten the hang of retracting it. I either dont pull it hard enough to get it to retract, or I pull it too hard, causing it to snap back quickly and get slightly tangled. Not a problem really, but it takes a little more time to retract than I would like, since it usually takes a couple attempts to get it right.

problems, problems. the retracting cable didnt stay extended. worked inconsistently with the both wall plug and the pc usb. the little hooks that are supposed to keep the micro usb firmly connected to the treo dont do their job. tossed it in the trash...

and oh by the way, the claim that the OEM cable that comes with the treo pro doesnt do synch AND charge via pc usb....BOGUS

Does not work with a Pearl 9100

Cons: computer doesnt recognize the Pearl when I connect via this cord

When I use it to connect to the computer, the computer searches for drivers (and cant find them). When I use the factory cable that came with the Pearl in the same USB slot, all works well. I have a useless cord.

This little thing is a fabulous idea... too bad thats all it is! From the first moment I hooked it up to my phone and plugged it into my computer it looked like it was charging but didnt and it never initiated the option to sync! Im wondering if maybe they sent me a different product than you all got??? Grrrrr!
