Motorola Cliq XT Parrot Minikit Slim Portable Bluetooth Car Kit

Product Description

The Parrot Minikit Slim is a portable Bluetooth hands-free kit sporting a profiled, sleek design.

Thanks to its space-saving design, it offers countless uses: in the car, in the office and at home. Its highly intuitive interface will automatically connect to your Bluetooth phone when nearby. Fixed to the sun visor or laid on a table, it adapts to every environment and can easily be carried around in your pocket.

Once paired, the Parrot Minikit Slim automatically synchronizes its phone book with the contacts on your mobile phone. The phone book on the Minikit Slim is updated seamlessly whenever it connects. The entire phone book is available at all times thanks to the voice synthesis of the names (Text-To-Speech function). Practical and indispensable.

Fancy calling one of the contacts in the phone book? Say the name and the Minikit Slim recognizes it without any prior training and dials the number. If several numbers are associated with the same person, tell the kit which one you want to dial by saying mobile, work, home, and so on.

Parrot has combined its audio expertise with the vibrating panel technology. No more speakers - the top panel is connected to the audio circuit and vibrates to reproduce natural, open sound. The results are spectacular - stunning sound quality, crystal-clear conversations and power always ready to go. The especially discreet high sensitivity microphone is fully built into the design.

In the box:

StarStarStarStarStar Perfect As long as you dont need an FM transmitter.
User: Rafael Roldan, Oct 28, 2009

Pros:  1. Sound Quality. 2. Built-in Voice Dialing. 3. Phone Book Synchronization.
Cons:  1. Lacks FM transmitter. 2. Weird audible tone on power-up/power-down.

I have had this speakerphone for about 2 months now. I no longer use a headset in the car. Most people cant tell Im in the car during a phone call, and I hear them loud and clear, no distortion. Sound quality was imperative in my decision to purchase a speakerphone, I am not regretting my decision. Equally imperative was the voice-dialing capabilities of the device since I own a Palm Pre. It actually works most of the time. Not up to par with sound quality, but not bad at all that being said, the Parrot does support voice-tags! So its a non-issue. It synchronizes the phone book with my Palm Pre which is an added bonus that helps with the voice-dialing.

It does not have an FM transmitter. I use my Pre as my MP3 player, but since my car has an auxiliary audio input jack (which I would prefer to have over FM), its not an issue for me.
StarStarStarStarStar VOICE DIAL WITH CENTRO - IT WORKS!
User: Karen Epley, Aug 5, 2009

Pros:  centro voice dialing, easy to use, good acoustics
Cons:  no visible battery level indicator

I drive a stick shift car, so hands free dialing is a must for me. I almost returned my phone over this one thing. Now, because of laws in my state against texting while driving mean "dont touch that phone while behind the wheel!" My parrot makes it easy for me to receive or make calls while in the car. I can also take it with me if my conversion needs to continue. My phone stays in my pocket, and my eyes stay on the road! Push the call button, parrot asks "whom do you want to call?" Speech recognition is great! Very rarely do I have to repeat anything! Parrot repeats back what it "heard" and places the call. The microphone is picky about placement. Put it on the visor like the instructions say. I tried to call and charge it at the same time, but my caller said it was hard to understand me because of the background "road noise". I had the unit plugged into the power port and it was resting on the tray next to the gear shift. Only thing I would change would be to have it let me know when it needs to be recharged. I got caught with a low battery, and had to charge it on the fly.
StarStarStarStarStar iPad 3g utility not functional
User: Bob Paradowski, Jun 26, 2010

Pros:  Works with motorola droid
Cons:  Cannot get beyond pairing with ipad

Purchased for iPad 3G web conferencing. Have successfully used iPad with Jabra Cruiser for not only web con but also music. Wanted unit for conference room. The Parrot mini kit although advertised for iPad 3G and wifi does not work. I have been successful with pairing and it is recognized. It does not connect although I have loaded the contacts. The unit pairs with Motorola Droid ok so it does not seem to be the hardware. If it works it is too complicated for even a "techie".
