StarStarStarStarStar As good a stream as the DAB!
User: Daniel Ratcliffe, Dec 26, 2010

Pros:  Excellent sound quality, strong connection, quick repairing
Cons:  Doesnt seem to connect to non-BB devices, no battery

Well now, having given this a try, I must say I am impressed. This thing really hits the mark.

As I type this, I am using it to charge my BB in one corner of my room while I am sat at the opposite corner. I decided having gt this, I would load my BB with some tunes.

So, I plug and pair before I have any speakers to connect it to (so typical of me, as good as my steep BB learning curve because I didnt RTFM, but thats a different story!).

Then, the day after, I was able to get access to a speaker, which I am using now. Using the 3.5mm-3.5mm as my speaker doesnt support Stereo RCA (I have a mixer I will try it in later though). The speaker is rubbish, so I wont comment on sound quality here.

However, the day I got this, I plugged in some headphones and decided to listen. Now Im an audiophile of sorts and can tell the differences between sound quality fairly well if I focus, but there was no difference to it being hard-wired here. I am very impressed with it, and will be hoping to load it with some more tunes at some point. Quality is good enough that it can compete with my DAB Digital Radio, and that is high quality!

RIM have really outdone themselves here, and I would recommend this hand-down to ANYONE who wants a somewhat wireless music system. Apparently laptops and PCs can connect to it too, however I have not tried this and therefore will not comment on this myself. Now, if RIM keep this kind of quality going, then it will be really nice to listen to. Anyway, I will continue using this and it is going to become an integral part of my sound system. Now my mum has a spare USB wall plug lying around somewhere, Im gonna grab that and use that as a power source for it, since it doesnt have a power-source built in. A small setback, but no deal-breaker for me.

I connected my iphone4 to the stereo gateway and it works great. I can change the music as I like along with volume control
StarStarStarStarStar Great for in the car, but no voice
User: Mark H, Oct 28, 2010

Pros:  Simple upgrade
Cons:  No voice profile

I use my BB Music Gateway almost daily in my car. I get power from a USB port and plug the output into the aux port. Works well. I especially like using it with Navigation. While Im driving and playing music, when a navigation instruction comes up, the music volume will lower a little bit, the instruction will be spoken, and then the music will start playing again. All over my cars speakers.

My only gripe is that I cant have my Pre simultaneously recognize that when a voice call comes in, it should direct the call to the headset that I have, that its associated with. So, on the rare occasion that I get a phone call, I cant really take it hands free.

But as a way of playing any sound on the Pre (other than a voice call), its fantastic.
StarStarStarStarStar One more thing..

Should mention there is no power cable in the box and the unit is not chargeable so you will need to locate a permanent mini USB charger cable - used on older devices Curve 8300, Bold 9000 etc - as opposed to a micro USB charger cable used on the newer devices 9700 et al. I assume most of us have an old mini USB cable gathering dust somewhere. If not then youll need to buy one or at the very least purchase a micro to mini converter.
StarStarStarStarStar Truly Awesome!
User: H Clarke, May 31, 2010

Pros:  Sound quality
Cons:  None

In my local Vodafone shop for an upgrade the assistant said I can choose any accessory on display as a freebie, have pretty much all BB accessories available including the excellent BlackBerry VM-605 Bluetooth Premium Visor so chose this. After a quick hook up I was surprised at awesome sound quality, no different to if I had hooked it up via cable. It needs its own power source but I have combined it with Audioengine 5 speakers. These have an AC power outlet built in which I normally use for for an Apple Airport Express but plug in the Music Gateway power socket and the audio cable plugs into the back of the speaker too. The phenomenal Audioengine 5 speakers along with the Blackberry Music Gateway and a Blackberry 9700 equals a top notch HiFi system.
StarStarStarStarStar Great product

Pros:  It works.
Cons:  Its not free.

After returning a different model bluetooth stereo adapter because it only had a reach of about 20 (and after being told by a guy at the Verizon store that was about as far as bluetooth will reach), I decided to try the BlackBerry Music Gateway. Good choice. This thing works great. Sure, it has its limitations -- the connection starts to fail if the BlackBerry is maybe 40 from the adapter with three walls between, but even then it works most of the time and any closer and it works all the time. Very nice product. Im considering getting another for the car.
StarStarStarStarStar It just plane works
User: corey P, Dec 27, 2009

Pros:  works
Cons:  none

After getting tired of all the wires running all over the place in my car I bought one of these things. Using my phone charger for my car to power it up after purchasing it very quickly pared with my phone and with in a minuit I was streaming my mp3s from my 16gb micro sd card...

My home computer is already tied in with my home entertainment system but I was curious if I could use this thing to stream music from it to other devices. I pared it with my pc and after downloading some drivers I was streaming music from my computer to my home stereo.

Although I am no audiophile I can tell the difference between mp3 @192 and one @320... this thing plays them just fine and I can find just a slight difference in sound quality when I use this thing.

Finally a gadget that just works out of the box!

Pros:  Sounds incredible!!!!!
Cons:  Doesnt come with its own power supply

I have this thing hooked up to my home stereo, & I also hook it up in my car. It makes my Blackberry sound as clear as if it was wired to both systems. I walk around the house, & I dont get any static. I use my phone along with my wifes phone on it. well worth the price.
StarStarStarStarStar OMG!
User: The Adlen, Jul 26, 2008

Pros:  Works amazingly, I love it!
Cons:  It doesnt make my breakfast

I hooked this up this morning and it works flawlessly. I have an amazing sound system at home so its good to be able to play my BlackBerry through it. I could walk around the house with my BB and it didnt start to lose sound quality until I got downstairs and into a room. Im using an 8800 on 4.5, the technology used to make the RSG work requires 4.5 on the 8800 series and probably the 8100 (cant test it).

I recommend it!
StarStarStarStarStar Sweet!
User: Jeff Green, Mar 20, 2008

Pros:  Great Sound, Good Range
Cons:  -

Great buy. It came with a 3.5 jack out & 3.5 to RCA out. The sound was amazing. When hooked up to my Aux port in the car I could hide it away in my ashtray and the BlackBerry had no problems pairing. If only it could steam video over bluetooth this thing would be truely amazing.
StarStarStarStarStar works greats

works great on my storm and easy setup. but does not work on the playbook. maybe in later updates to the OS.
StarStarStarStarStar works but not perfect
User: KB KB, Jul 16, 2009

Pros:  BT audio on my stereo
Cons:  no volume settings

Well, it does what it is supposed to do, have BT audio from iPhone 3.0 to home stereo. With iPhone 2.0, nothing worked. However, Apples implementation of audio BT is not good as you cannot control the volume with the iPhone. My bf blackberry has the volume function working with the BT device, and can wirelessly adjust the BT volume. Maybe Apple will do a better job at integrating BT audio with iPhone 4.0.....
StarStarStarStarStar Wont work with Playbook
User: Dale Scott, Apr 28, 2011

Pros:  Not sure - couldnt get it to work
Cons:  Playbook wont connect to this device

This looks like a great product and my criticism isnt of this device but rather the Playbook. Perhaps in the future the two will talk to each other but at this point in time the Playbook is incapable of connecting to this device.
StarStarStarStarStar Does not work
